Somethings Missing

A collar for a Life

Sue looked in the mirror. Today was different. Today would not be a good day. Yesterday Alex had left, left and taken all of her security. In the mirror she saw the reflection, the reflection of an empty space. Looking over necklaces she had not worn in years, Sue could not fathom putting one of them on.

Sue walked to her front door, who would be here? who would know?

“You didn’t come in last night, we were worried.” Sue barely got the door open before Cliff was barreling in, Bear right behind him. “Oh hun, he didn’t!” That was all it took, Sue broke down crying over her loss, she had been safe and now was not.

Bear came in closed the door, giving Cliff a minor look of irritation. He gathered Sue to him wrapping his huge arms around her, this was going to be a long weekend. He had never liked Alex, but Sue had not listened. Maybe now she would, of course Cliff and he had to get her through this weekend, no clubs tonight. He’d call Jake after she went to sleep.

“Go make the bed and get some tea on Cliff.”

Budget Passed means Good News

 Political Captive

Ya know, one day the masses will revolt. The current government will no longer be in control and paychecks will not be held hostage. That’s basically how I view the current situation in Washington. The two houses cannot play well together, obviously a mediator is needed. Maybe one with a fly swatter in one hand and a baseball bat in the other. Now I haven’t gone and read all of the bills, and the voting, and what the hang ups are for this new session. I have briefly gone over the news and the following links to see what’s what. Listened to gossip, and the rumors mills and the what do we dos, and have decided this isn’t fun.

Of course as I am writing this day old rant, it comes out that the houses have finally decided to play nice. And baring any major disagreements our budget should be signed by Gov. Inslee hopefully before 5 on Friday.

Okay, all well and good. How much money have we wasted by sending out notices to people telling them their services may be temporarily on hold?

Between the price of envelopes, paper, ink and postage money has been well wasted. Let alone all the mental and emotional angst suffered by families who would have been affected by the layoff, how much has that cost the state in employee productive hours?

So much stress anxiety and who know what else, and of course not everything was taken care of. At least we can go to work and breathe a little easier until the next biennium budget. It will be interesting to see where the funding came from, how are they paying for this budget?

More taxes on home owners and gallons of gas? Still at least it is done, in time, I do not think our legislature has played well with the custodial duties of the state’s monies. I may be wrong, I am merely an outsider looking in going “Why can’t you all agree?” As I have not been on the floors I do not know what had to be compromised to fit the constitutional obligations to the children and the state. I seem to suffer from the same issue I have accused others of: “It’s not my issue, someone else can pay for it.” Well maybe I do need to pay for these additional taxes as I am not a home owner and do not pay taxes on a home. However I do have a child who has to go to school, and taxes from the homes in some part do go to pay for the schools. So I have my happy uninformed rant and realize that they do a much harder job than I would want to do. Who wants to play with numbers and have to decide who can afford to live?

Ramblings of a cluttered mind

Oh, boy. I really have no excuse. Good books, life…. A few posts started none finished. I really need to sit down and get everything in order.

July will start an interesting two months. I am going back to redo a class to obtain my Accounting Certificate. I have long since given up the ideals of being a CPA or an Auditor, both are more daunting and in-depth than I am currently prepared to pursue. The certificate? Yes, okay. Granted I can get  a much higher passing grade bringing up my GPA.

Life, well the battle of the bulge is winning. I have started at a gym. Three days a week, so far doing okay. I can tell what days I have truly worked out and what days I goofed off. All work out is good!! Now to give up the fast food, the Venti size coffees, the snackages… (currently giggling at the thought of giving up any of that!)

However!!!! When I loose 20 pounds I have decided I can get a Kindle!! Oh I sooo want one of those. 🙂

As for other Life, middle school starts next year. I truly am not ready for this. What happened to my little baby boy? Oh yeah, He’s now a prepubescent boy. So not fun. He has good sweet days and days of can I hang him by his toes days. Somedays parenting is awesome, some days not so much. Especially days where I can look at my son doing something and answer the question of “where did he learn that” with a “Oh, yeah… me.” The whole thing of do as I say not as I do? Doesn’t work. We’ll just leave that line of thought there.

But oh yeah! Middle school, land of mean kids, weird kids and why are you friends with that person kids. I didn’t have a great few years in middle school, no really close friends and completely socially backwards. Wonder why my son is so awkward? Not really. So next few years will be the join band, join sports, find friends that way… I just hope that he has enough common sense in there to look before he leaps.

So summer is now upon us and I am yet again not ready. Are we ever? One foot after the other, one finger typed, one word, one post at a time.

Happy summer everyone!

Absolute Write Blog Chain June 2013

This month’s prompt:

Yep. Bugs. Simple and easy.
Prose, poetry, play. Fiction, nonfiction. It’s all good, all bugs.

“Jake! Jake! Jake!”

Jake came running from the shop with Frank right behind him, “What?”

Nat was standing on the table in front of the couch in his office, “B-b-b-b-b-bug!” He pointed over towards the corner behind his desk.

Jake walked over to look thinking it would be a little beetle or something, nope! He scooted right back to stand behind Nat, he wasn’t quite joining him on the table. “Frank?!”

Frank walked around the desk and looked down, a very large, ugly, brown beetle was sitting in the corner. Frank grabbed a cup and a piece of paper and scooped up the bug. “I’ll just take this outside.”

“My Hero!” Nat jumped into a laughing Jake’s arms.
