Broken toe and all that

I promise I will get all caught up.

I’ve been playing Minecraft.. No more to say there.

But I broke my toe doing something really stupid, stepping over a box on the floor. I didn’t step far enough. I am now mostly healed and getting back into the swing of cardio. Nasty stuff that, that cardio.

Believe me this post is all about excuses. My sister was gone for a week to a conference and I have both kids the majority of the time, plus unplanned visit from my parents…. No more to say there….

Well I have missed all my posts the last month. Missed my muse and then some. I am still sitting on Frank and Matthew’s story. I am having a hard time getting the right words for Matthew’s side. And I am a great big chicken liver and cannot seem to get the courage to ask the owner of the pic if I can use his pic seeing as it was his caption to the picture that found me Frank’s other half. … Did anyone else get dizzy with that one?

Though, funny funny, if anyone recognizes it. Jamie’s Jelly is in process. Don’t know where the story line will go. But I have high hopes for it. 😀

But, well after all my waffling around I am ready to get back to work.

Plate is full, and my skills at time management, well I just haven’t developed those yet. ha-ha 😀 ItWorks, writing, (stalking) um not… um admiring beautiful people, 40 hour desk job, full time single parent… exercising… Anything else? Playing games (just Minecraft, though I do have Hearthstone on my phone now. I had to reset my Apple password. Stupid) bothering people, wait I’m to old to be doing that…. wondering when my Keeper will find me… oh who knows what goes on in the crazy mind of mine.

I am revamping the blog site. Adding a published works page with all my books and as soon as I figure it out a PayPal button. I need someone website savvy.

Being an author is not cheap. I have to pay my illustrator in Starbucks coffee. 😀 And getting copy rights to use images is not cheap either. All for the good and enjoyment of writing and sharing my craziness with others.

Share Your World – 2015 Week 14

I’m a week late, but at least I’m here. Broken toe, holidays, crazy life… and a post for the Absolute Write Blog Chain. Yes I write this chalk full of excuses because I have em. 😀

Share Your World

What type of music relaxes you the most or do you prefer silence?

Oh. It completely depends on what is going on. If I am highly agitated I will of all things throw on the soundtrack from Batman, oh lord the name escapes me. The one with the Riddler and Two-Face. I have a very eclectic range of music ranging from Techno to Enya and Celtic instrumental. Now on my Youtube (J Elyzabeth) page, well… It’s even more of a hodgepodge because I was making assorted annoying (I was being a brat) play lists for a Twitch channel I was watching.

Show us a two of your favorites photographs?  Explain why they are your favorite.   If you are not a photographer, think of a two favorite scenes in your life and tell us about them.  I am sad. I cannot post them as they are photos of two men I respect. I need their permission. But let’s say the photos have become a muse for me as I see them in answer to the writer’s block that I have been suffering.

What is your favorite tradition? (family tradition, church tradition, whatever)

I honestly do not have one. Things have become so fluid with all of us slowly making our own families.

If you could go back and talk to yourself at age 18 what advice would you give yourself?  Or if you are younger than 25 what words of wisdom would you like to tell yourself at age 50?

Do not get a credit card!! Your grandpa is correct. Save your money and do not go out with the next seven guys you meet. They are not worth it. Take the post in England and do not get married!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Out of order – Share Your World 2105 – Week 11

List 2 things you have to be happy about?

I have a job and my car is running.

Do you prefer ketchup or mustard or mayonnaise?

Mustard please.

If you were to paint a picture of your childhood, what colors would you use?

red, black, maybe white

Do you prefer a bath or shower?

Shower or bath? Can’t I have both???

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

ummm… Okay, this post is a week late. Last week I just wasn’t doing anything and now I have made up the two posts. So I am current and up to date with the Share Your World weekly posts.

Arg… I still have to do tomorrow’s post…. hmmm

Ireland

“You know I’m Irish when I can shoot rainbows from my hand 🙂 “

Land of Lucky Charms, Rainbows with pots of Gold at the end, Leprechauns, and green. Oh did I forget Potatoes?

This month’s Absolute Write Blog Chain is on St. Patrick’s day or Ireland.

Who doesn’t like the Irish, laid back unless you get their temper. Beautiful people and beautiful minds. No I have yet to go there. It is on the bucket list along with my three month walk about in the UK. Just a short hop skip and a jump across the Irish Sea.

I grew up reading about the Irish in all of my romance novels, I devoured quite a few. And I have yet to decide with is better the Irish accent or the Scottish brogue.

I will give this, they have good recipes, Potato and Leek soup. Was actually really good. There are a few other recipes that I have to try.

But the way they speak?

Where are the “th’s” ? Yes, that sound seems to be missing from their everyday speak. But it sounds wonderful. Thursday is just T’ursday. And a tongue twister of all “t” words? Brilliant.

I went looking for things that the Irish say that we in America don’t. And some of them I get, some well…. It’s a thingy…

1. “Sure look it” : If you ever find yourself in a situation where you’re not sure what to say, use this phrase.

2. “the jacks” : This be the restrooms (evidently they don’t use ‘restroom’ over there).

3. “Arseways” : yeah, I hope ye can figure it out. Basically it was buggered and went the wrong way.

4. “the press” : the cupboard. I don’t get it? cupboard = press ummmm….. no

5. “wrecked” : very tired. I think we use this here too when someone was out a little to late and isn’t completely functioning in the morning. 😀

6. “Minerals” : equals soft drinks or soda. hmmm another one to think upon.

7. “I will yea” : means I definitely won’t. Oh I love this!!

I am linking the pages I found them at, but…

irishcentral.com 35 Irish sayings and phrases you need to learn before you visit. 3.2.2015

I also went looking for some famous people in Ireland… (http://www.imdb.com/list/ls000036352/ ) (http://news.moviefone.com/2010/03/17/irish-actors-in-hollywood-movies/ )

I found some I know.

Colin Farrell,

Pierce Brosnan,

Liam Neeson ( Oh, I am including him I know he’s from Northern Ireland, but forgive me?)

We all know Devon Murray… Harry Potter anyone?

James Nesbitt as Bofur… oh… The Hobbit anyone?

Gabriel Byrne

Oh. There are so many actors and actresses… That could be a long list. Love them all. It’s the accent I tell ya. And maybe the countryside?

I got to meet R A Salvatore!!!

IMG_3685-0

I realize I write this a week late. And while I remember what happened my words for reality are a bit…. Lacking. Though, I was extremely lucky in that I stood over to the side of where the main area was so I would be able to see. I am rather short. And just happened to be standing where the lovely employee started the line for book signing. There were a few people there before me and of course they went ahead of me but still, I wasn’t at the back of the line. Though I would have waited.

Last week I had the honor of attending a book signing at Barnes and Noble hosting, R. A. Salvatore.

R.A. Salvatore is the author of one of the best known elves (in my opinion), Drizzt Do’Urden (a Drow).

A Forgotten Realms author and sadly the man who killed Chewbacca.

Sorry Tolkien fans, but I loved Drizzt long before Legolas. I learned Drizzt was born July 11, 1987.  ( A younger man 😉 ) Who wouldn’t love the rebel going against the grain? Protecting those who need it and fighting for what was right. I mean, an elf…

I was glad to be able to go to the signing and found Mr. Salvatore to be very personable. Answering questions and giving honest advice.

He spent an hour talking with us and then being one of the first of many in line to get my book signed. I am unsure how long he was there, but there was a very long line when I left.

I remember reading many of the books while I was at sea. Spent most of my time reading the series. I am now a bit behind, but that is what happens.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“Worry about writing the best book you can.”

“Write characters that people care about.”

“I do the outline and then ignore it.”

I think though what stands out is the fact that write, not by candle light but write. And get a degree a job that can support you as you write.

feb 024

I will be visiting his store to order signed books. Just as soon as I can… [ rasalvatore.com ] or the store [ rasalvastore.com ] I briefly looked at the store. I may needs order a t-shirt.

After listening to him, I realized that I still love writing and I have ran out of excuses and must face my characters and put them back on the path to somewhere.  And that I too toss my outline to the side to later add to it and see where my characters have veered off the path.

I have yet to meet an author or speak with one via media that hasn’t had a character or two take on a life of their own.

All I can say, if there is a meet and greet of some kind with someone who you admire and want to meet, GO! Just go and enjoy.
