Out of order – Share Your World 2105 – Week 11

List 2 things you have to be happy about?

I have a job and my car is running.

Do you prefer ketchup or mustard or mayonnaise?

Mustard please.

If you were to paint a picture of your childhood, what colors would you use?

red, black, maybe white

Do you prefer a bath or shower?

Shower or bath? Can’t I have both???

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

ummm… Okay, this post is a week late. Last week I just wasn’t doing anything and now I have made up the two posts. So I am current and up to date with the Share Your World weekly posts.

Arg… I still have to do tomorrow’s post…. hmmm

I got to meet R A Salvatore!!!

IMG_3685-0

I realize I write this a week late. And while I remember what happened my words for reality are a bit…. Lacking. Though, I was extremely lucky in that I stood over to the side of where the main area was so I would be able to see. I am rather short. And just happened to be standing where the lovely employee started the line for book signing. There were a few people there before me and of course they went ahead of me but still, I wasn’t at the back of the line. Though I would have waited.

Last week I had the honor of attending a book signing at Barnes and Noble hosting, R. A. Salvatore.

R.A. Salvatore is the author of one of the best known elves (in my opinion), Drizzt Do’Urden (a Drow).

A Forgotten Realms author and sadly the man who killed Chewbacca.

Sorry Tolkien fans, but I loved Drizzt long before Legolas. I learned Drizzt was born July 11, 1987.  ( A younger man 😉 ) Who wouldn’t love the rebel going against the grain? Protecting those who need it and fighting for what was right. I mean, an elf…

I was glad to be able to go to the signing and found Mr. Salvatore to be very personable. Answering questions and giving honest advice.

He spent an hour talking with us and then being one of the first of many in line to get my book signed. I am unsure how long he was there, but there was a very long line when I left.

I remember reading many of the books while I was at sea. Spent most of my time reading the series. I am now a bit behind, but that is what happens.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“Worry about writing the best book you can.”

“Write characters that people care about.”

“I do the outline and then ignore it.”

I think though what stands out is the fact that write, not by candle light but write. And get a degree a job that can support you as you write.

feb 024

I will be visiting his store to order signed books. Just as soon as I can… [ rasalvatore.com ] or the store [ rasalvastore.com ] I briefly looked at the store. I may needs order a t-shirt.

After listening to him, I realized that I still love writing and I have ran out of excuses and must face my characters and put them back on the path to somewhere.  And that I too toss my outline to the side to later add to it and see where my characters have veered off the path.

I have yet to meet an author or speak with one via media that hasn’t had a character or two take on a life of their own.

All I can say, if there is a meet and greet of some kind with someone who you admire and want to meet, GO! Just go and enjoy.

Hugs & Kisses

A Thursday Thought

Well, more like an excuse. But I do not feel good. The head cold running around my house seems to think I would be the perfect person to land on.

Really I am against Valentine’s day. We discussed it in the chat yesterday (Yes Draw, I borrow from Twitch chat. *if I knew all your info I would give you credit*) and consensus not the best day. Not celebrated not… well ya get the gist.

Now, that being said and posting a Valentine’s day post for the Chain, I have decided the universe must owe me. I have a head cold. I need SNUGGLES!!! See I woke this morning with the perverse want of having someone to be there tell not to go into work. That I needed to go snuggle back into the covers, they would make sure I was all tucked in. Make sure the kid got off to school, they offices all called and then come back to snuggle with me. Just to be my body pillow.

Nope.

I am at work. Drinking hot tea with the last basketball game of the season to look forward to tonight.

I am off of my regular blog programming. Two weeks behind and I don’t know if I’ll get it figured out.

But I got Monday’s done, and I am monitoring / mediating? this month’s blog chain for Absolute Write.

So busy busy.

And I would have totally forgotten about today’s post if Draw hadn’t reminded me on Twitch yesterday. Well not reminded but we started talking about Chat and the raid and how we could so totally write a book about it. Gotta love guild leaders. 😀 But writing the book on chat right off the top of my head? I’m good, but I am not that good.

Here’s to the Raid today and more ideas to pull for a book on WOW 😀

How to wake a Bear up

January 011

Well I dont think there is any other way. Of course you may need coffee if your Bear is a coffee drinker. And within the genre I write, I am sure there are other ways to wake up Bears. ;D

Share Your World – wk 4

This is week four of Share Your World. So far so good, even if I am a little late posting this week.

Where did you live at age five?  Is it the same place or town you live now?

Sadly it is the same place I live now. I had left right after high school and came back for the limited family support as I raise my son. Never say Never. I didn’t want to come back but I was relatively young and had no clue. I still don’t. Now it’s not a bad little town, just the prospects are very limited. But it is a safe place for the most part to raise a child.

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met.  Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?

Just thinking of this question causes me anxiety. But I think if it was a certain group of people I so want to meet I so would. I would be very comfortable watching from the sidelines.

Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?

See the first question 😀

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Oh, I wanted to be a wide range of things, teacher, jockey, veterinarian, writer, actress, movie producer, airplane pilot.. And now? Well, I am a writer.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Thursday’s posts – yes it is plural 😀
