Time for a Theme Change….

I just got done looking at everything I have on my main page. That is a lot. And it is stark white. I am not loving the theme page I have used for ever. Any ideas on a new format?

I wonder how to regroup and make everything nice to see….

hmm… much to think on over the next few days. How do I do this? What should I choose? Any way to make it so my paragraphs quit adding spacing in my lines?

I am soo behind on how to manage WordPress… Should do this at home not at work.

And yes, I am still thinking about Frank. I have his partner and I think I will name him Matty, but I have to go find the story line where Frank first started and maybe repost those?

I love that I have readers, but it would maybe be nice to see who visits?

A sign in page? hmmm….. lol I don’t know.

If you can think of anything I could do to make this blog more user friendly I would so appreciate it.

Out of order – Share Your World 2105 – Week 11

List 2 things you have to be happy about?

I have a job and my car is running.

Do you prefer ketchup or mustard or mayonnaise?

Mustard please.

If you were to paint a picture of your childhood, what colors would you use?

red, black, maybe white

Do you prefer a bath or shower?

Shower or bath? Can’t I have both???

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

ummm… Okay, this post is a week late. Last week I just wasn’t doing anything and now I have made up the two posts. So I am current and up to date with the Share Your World weekly posts.

Ireland

Is fearr Gaeilge briste, na Bearla cliste

"You know I'm Irish when I can shoot rainbows from my hand :-) "
“You know I’m Irish when I can shoot rainbows from my hand 🙂 “

Land of Lucky Charms, Rainbows with pots of Gold at the end, Leprechauns, and green. Oh did I forget Potatoes?

This month’s Absolute Write Blog Chain is on St. Patrick’s day or Ireland.

Who doesn’t like the Irish, laid back unless you get their temper. Beautiful people and beautiful minds. No I have yet to go there. It is on the bucket list along with my three month walk about in the UK. Just a short hop skip and a jump across the Irish Sea.

I grew up reading about the Irish in all of my romance novels, I devoured quite a few. And I have yet to decide with is better the Irish accent or the Scottish brogue.

I will give this, they have good recipes, Potato and Leek soup. Was actually really good. There are a few other recipes that I have to try.

But the way they speak?

Where are the “th’s” ? Yes, that sound seems to be missing from their everyday speak. But it sounds wonderful. Thursday is just T’ursday. And a tongue twister of all “t” words? Brilliant.

I went looking for things that the Irish say that we in America don’t. And some of them I get, some well…. It’s a thingy…

1. “Sure look it” : If you ever find yourself in a situation where you’re not sure what to say, use this phrase.

2. “the jacks” : This be the restrooms (evidently they don’t use ‘restroom’ over there).

3. “Arseways” : yeah, I hope ye can figure it out. Basically it was buggered and went the wrong way.

4. “the press” : the cupboard. I don’t get it? cupboard = press ummmm….. no

5. “wrecked” : very tired. I think we use this here too when someone was out a little to late and isn’t completely functioning in the morning. 😀

6. “Minerals” : equals soft drinks or soda. hmmm another one to think upon.

7. “I will yea” : means I definitely won’t. Oh I love this!!

I am linking the pages I found them at, but…

irishcentral.com 35 Irish sayings and phrases you need to learn before you visit. 3.2.2015

I also went looking for some famous people in Ireland… (http://www.imdb.com/list/ls000036352/ ) (http://news.moviefone.com/2010/03/17/irish-actors-in-hollywood-movies/ )

I found some I know.

Colin Farrell,

Pierce Brosnan,

Liam Neeson ( Oh, I am including him I know he’s from Northern Ireland, but forgive me?)

We all know Devon Murray… Harry Potter anyone?

James Nesbitt as Bofur… oh… The Hobbit anyone?

Gabriel Byrne

Oh. There are so many actors and actresses… That could be a long list. Love them all. It’s the accent I tell ya. And maybe the countryside?

Share Your World – wk 4

This is week four of Share Your World. So far so good, even if I am a little late posting this week.

Where did you live at age five?  Is it the same place or town you live now?

Sadly it is the same place I live now. I had left right after high school and came back for the limited family support as I raise my son. Never say Never. I didn’t want to come back but I was relatively young and had no clue. I still don’t. Now it’s not a bad little town, just the prospects are very limited. But it is a safe place for the most part to raise a child.

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met.  Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?

Just thinking of this question causes me anxiety. But I think if it was a certain group of people I so want to meet I so would. I would be very comfortable watching from the sidelines.

Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?

See the first question 😀

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Oh, I wanted to be a wide range of things, teacher, jockey, veterinarian, writer, actress, movie producer, airplane pilot.. And now? Well, I am a writer.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Thursday’s posts – yes it is plural 😀

Pet Peeve- Be where you say you are going to be

I am notorious for not being where I say I am going to be… on-line that is. And it annoys me to no end that I do something I find absolutely frustrating in others.

I am trying to juggle Instagram, a Facebook page, Youtube (no I am not posting videos yet, but I do have playlists and people I follow), my blog (Thank you again for following me), Twitch (again a future project), writing my stories and life. Yet alone the few chats I am involved in across the board.

No wonder fellow gamers and bloggers are not always where they say they are going to be. However, IF (the biggest word in the dictionary) you plan on making a career in the public eye. BE where you say you are going to be and WHEN.

Make sure you are not biting off more than you can chew. It drives me nuts when I don’t have a pic before I leave the house for IG. I am getting better understanding if I at least post once a day I am good. That is not something anyone expects of me and I do not have a ton of followers (seem to flit between 60 and 64) lol.. I just expect it of myself and if I post more good.

I finally have Facebook figured out, post on Mondays, after I post to the weekly blog on WordPress. And I have Wednesdays figured out on WordPress, of all things I am a few weeks ahead. Now I should be able to catch up to NaNo and Twitch and my pics and … of all the dreaded things the emails and my commitment to a 12 month program where I am very far behind. I have finally caught up with Absolute Write, realizing it much like InstaGram is a Daily activity.

Now for my rant, if you post you will be online Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. You had best be. It is a proven fact: start how you intend to go on. If you want to build a web presence you cannot slack off, you cannot without being on your death bed not show up. If you are sick…. post you will return as soon as you feel well. Enlist in others to help you, and if you have enlisted in others to help you: DO not leave them wondering WTF??

And if you are a follower- be where you say you will be. Those you follow rely on you too. Be supportive and understanding that there is a life outside of the virtual world. I often fail at this, thinking I am the only one. Then I do a quick reality check and realize that I have let one my many media balls fall to the floor. I have some to go pick up after I get done writing this blog.

Social media much like losing weight or gaining muscles only happens IF you work at it. I am working at it. I very much would love to have enough going on the next few years that I could retire early and take a walk-about England. There are a few villages I am in search of… Who doesn’t dream of making it big? But that comes at a price – commitment, accountability and honesty.

I admit I have failed in the past in making sure I am here. I have failed in making sure I show up on chats that I have committed to. No more. If it means waking up a little earlier, staying up a little later, than I shall. If nothing else I owe my followers the common courtesy of being where and when I say I will be.

I also owe my family and friends (virtual and corporeal) the courtesy of being where I say I will be. This is something I am working on. Not a New Years resolution. But a NOW resolution.

(at the time I write this my followers hover at 99… Thank you)
