A Writer's Journey of a Secluded Mind

The blog is not changing. Frank’s story will still be written. Still one of my favorite genres. I have not forgotten. The navigation will be cleaned up. The archive created. I will be adding more biblical based thoughts. But that is just it, they are thoughts. I fully intend in time to pull the more contreversal ones out and attempt to disect them from their origination. Because some of them just piss me off. I do not trust the translation. And yes it is time. Time, before I post too many more posts and archiving under correct labels is made difficult. Hmm… I may have to make a directory. No, nothing is being deleted. Merely relabled. If I were to delete some of my work then my title would no longer stand
A writer’s journey

I find that I often do not have good names for my heros and villians. Reading the Bible this morning I realized something…  there’s some good names in there!

Just thought I’d share 😉

Oh oh oh!!!

I forgot about Nat and Jake when I went looking for Frank I found some posts regarding them.

So now I have to figure out how to get them going. Seems I have a few blog chains to run.

hmm… but there are so many chains to follow. Maybe Frank can be a book in the end?

Ideas on how they should meet anyone??

Poor Dom Frank without his own boy. How does he meet Matty?

I got to meet R A Salvatore!!!

I realize I write this a week late. And while I remember what happened my words for reality are a bit…. Lacking. Though, I was extremely lucky in that I stood over to the side of where the main area was so I would be able to see. I am rather short. And just happened to be standing where the lovely employee started the line for book signing. There were a few people there before me and of course they went ahead of me but still, I wasn’t at the back of the line. Though I would have waited.

Last week I had the honor of attending a book signing at Barnes and Noble hosting, R. A. Salvatore.

R.A. Salvatore is the author of one of the best known elves (in my opinion), Drizzt Do’Urden (a Drow).

A Forgotten Realms author and sadly the man who killed Chewbacca.

Sorry Tolkien fans, but I loved Drizzt long before Legolas. I learned Drizzt was born July 11, 1987.  ( A younger man 😉 ) Who wouldn’t love the rebel going against the grain? Protecting those who need it and fighting for what was right. I mean, an elf…

I was glad to be able to go to the signing and found Mr. Salvatore to be very personable. Answering questions and giving honest advice.

He spent an hour talking with us and then being one of the first of many in line to get my book signed. I am unsure how long he was there, but there was a very long line when I left.

I remember reading many of the books while I was at sea. Spent most of my time reading the series. I am now a bit behind, but that is what happens.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“Worry about writing the best book you can.”

“Write characters that people care about.”

“I do the outline and then ignore it.”

I think though what stands out is the fact that write, not by candle light but write. And get a degree a job that can support you as you write.

I will be visiting his store to order signed books. Just as soon as I can… [ ] or the store [ ] I briefly looked at the store. I may needs order a t-shirt.

After listening to him, I realized that I still love writing and I have ran out of excuses and must face my characters and put them back on the path to somewhere.  And that I too toss my outline to the side to later add to it and see where my characters have veered off the path.

I have yet to meet an author or speak with one via media that hasn’t had a character or two take on a life of their own.

All I can say, if there is a meet and greet of some kind with someone who you admire and want to meet, GO! Just go and enjoy.

Share Your World – Week 6

I am happy to be posting again to Share Your World.

What was the last time you went to a new place?

This summer. I went to a little town/city just outside of Chicago. I can’t remember the name of it, but it was hot and I spent my days in the mall or in the Hotel room. I went on this mini-vacation to accompany my son for a few days while he went to visit his father.

If you were or are a writer do you prefer writing short stories, poems or novels, other?  And what type of genre would you prefer?

Oh, I write it all. But I do enjoy writing MM novellas. I keep them short as I finish off my epic sci-fi novel. To get it done.

Out of your five senses (touch, taste, sight, smell, hearing) which is your favorite?

If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?

I think more than half? But it is a perspective. I mean my life is my own issue, and each other person may look at my life and see it as more satisfying than their own. My goal is to learn to be happy with what I have and plan for better things rather than look at what everyone else has and wish it was me.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

That the weekend is over. To the mini-vid that is released tomorrow. Gotta love it. I think I look forward to the comments more than the video 😀
